Developed in Malaga, this experience has everything you could want: adventure, culture, environmental awareness, friendship, and lots of fun!
Let’s break it down step by step.
This is the experience
We leave from Nerja at 09:00h and make a brief stop in Velez-Malaga at 09:20h (you can choose where to be picked up). Once everyone’s in the van, we head towards our adventure, the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park.
We arrive and begin with a 45 minute walk. The first 20 minutes are a nice warm up because we’ll be going uphill, but believe us: it will be feast for the senses.
We’ll see one of the longest suspension bridges in Spain, which may not sound extremely exciting, but can you imagine the views? We could show you some pictures, but we will behave ourselves for now…
When we get to the point from which we will start canyoning, we will make a brief stop to have a small snack, put our wetsuits and gear on and listen to some guidelines for the descent.
Then, we start the descent. It will be 3 hours of rappelling and swimming in crystal clear waters while you discover everything about the wild nature that surrounds you at every step.
And that is part of our role: to teach you and explain it in a fun and interesting way. The value of the nature that surrounds us is priceless.
When we finish the descent, with a few peaks on top, a delicious and ecological picnic awaits us, with locally produced snacks, and some beer, of course.
Sometimes depending on how the group feels about it, we offer the possibility of making a cultural visit to the Mozarabic village of Canillas de Aceituno, which is as beautiful as they come. We will walk through the village, talk about local history and culture and, if we feel like it, we will have some tapas somewhere (those come at your own expense).
When we finish we will return to the meeting points in Nerja and Vélez-Málaga and that same evening (or the next day at the latest) we will send you the photos and videos that we have taken during the whole experience, so you can take a great souvenir of your visit to this natural enclave.
This is what previous adventurers are saying about the experience
Views of the suspension bridge and the Almanchares cliff, its descent, rappels, guided tour of Canillas de Aceituno (optional and depending on the group)… yes, this experience has it all, and this is what some adventurers say about it:
What we need from you for this experience in the Almanchares cliff
It’s very easy, but necessary:
You have to possess a minimum level of physical fitness
Because although the experience is of medium difficulty, it is necessary that you move with some agility.
You have to bring a swimsuit and sneakers (or boots) for the descent
And dry clothes and shoes for when the experience is over.
If you'd rather bring your own food and drinks for the ecopicnic at the end
We will keep everything in the van.
Wallet, cell phone, keys... we'll keep everything you need in the van
So you don't have to worry about it getting wet during the descent.
Do you wear glasses?
Bring your contact lenses and if you can't/have them, make sure to bring something to keep your glasses secured at all times so you don't lose them.
You must choose and be at one of the two meeting points at the indicated time:
Below are some additional details also included in the experience, but they weren't exciting enough to list above

Environmental permit from the Junta de Andalucía
You need a special permit to enter this area of the Natural Park. Not just anyone can enter. Well, we DO have it 😉
Civil liability and accident insurance
You have to have it, by law; not that we doubt your skill in descending rivers. Well, we also include it.

Who is behind all this?
Local guides, who like a quiet life but with its dose of adventure, cooking, contributing to a global awareness promoting respect for local traditions, beer, traveling and our Andalusia. And more, but we wanted to be brief.
Frequently Asked Questions (yes, there are some)
No, but you do have to be physically prepared. You just have to be “fit”.
There is no way to avoid them. In any case, we always provide safety ropes so that the descent can be done with confidence. There is absolutely nothing to worry about.
No: after the descent and the ecopicnic, we will ask you if you want to do it. It’s not a must, but we think you’ll enjoy it.
Swimsuit or bikini, sneakers (no crab shoes, no booties, no sandals), other spare footwear (the experience is going to get wet) and clothes to get changed when you finish. And only if you want, because it is included, food and drink for when we do the ecopicnic. We especially recommend you the drink, because we will give you a half liter bottle that is also made of plastic. In short: if you can bring your own drink, all the better (and if it’s in a sustainable container, that would be peeeeerfect).
Nope: you will have to arrive at your preferred meeting point in the morning (Nerja bus station at 09:00h or Vélez-Málaga at 09:20h) and leave from there when the activity is over. We go from the meeting point to the Natural Park and back in our van. We do offer, however, transportation from Málaga, but only on request and with an additional cost.
The bus company ALSA has daily tickets with multiple schedules from both cities to the bus station of Nerja (and vice versa).
This experience only takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays or another day upon request, and only between June 15 and January 15, due to the protection of some species of birds.
Yes, 10 people more or less. And if we are more than 8, we take two guides. We like to “make a group” and get to know our adventurers, and that is impossible with a certain amount of people. There is also the option to make the experience totally private; you just have to ask us.
If you let us know 5 days in advance or more, yes: the full amount. And if it is due to a medical reason, if you give us proof of cancellation, we will refund the money even if you don’t let us know 5 days in advance.
Of course. We can make a voucher with it, so you can surprise whoever you want.
So, are you coming to enjoy the wild nature and the most sustainable sport?
